Rapid Lube of Connecticut, Inc

116 South St., Danbury CT.                203-798-0709

In early 1988, Larry Karam was coming off a 12+ year stint as Vice President of Coleco toy company. He was interested in purchasing an automotive car wash in Connecticut but was willing to relocate, if need be. His son, Peter, was gathering information about purchasing a quick lube oil change to open in Connecticut. He had meetings with the now defunct AutoSpa franchise as well as one other.

In the fall of '88, Larry met a broker in Danbury who showed him a car wash that was currently for sale. While there, the broker mentioned there was an oil change facility for sale that was less than 2 yrs old. After much thought, Larry approached his son and asked if he would join him with this venture as a family.

On November 4th, 1988, Rapid Lube of Connecticut was born. A FAMILY OWNED & OPERATED BUSINESS, Ma & Pop type store. They keep it old fashion, hand written and no computers. Several other family members have also worked there too.
In the 29 years, both Larry, who is 87yrs old in 2017, and Peter still come in every day.

They have several employees. 3 of them have been there 10yrs, 21yrs, & 24yrs! One of the many important ingredients of success is the comforting fact that the customers sees Larry and Peter PLUS the same faces working on their cars.
